I had my schooling at South Point School in Kolkata, once the largest school in the world, so far as roll strength is concerned. After passing the Higher Secondary Examination, I joined Medical College, Calcutta, the oldest medical school in India. I did my MD in internal medicine from the then University College of Medicine, Kolkata, and was posted at the National Medical College. Thereafter, I completed a DM in Endocrinology and Metabolism from IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital, Kolkata, in 2000.
After completing my DM in endocrinology, I was attached to Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan and Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences till January 2007, when I joined the Medical Education Service of the Govt. of West Bengal and was posted at Nilratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata, as an assistant professor in the Department of Endocrinology.
