He completed his MBBS at Nil Ratan Sircar (NRS) Medical College, Kolkata. He completed his MD in the specialty of general medicine from Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Kolkata. He secured second rank in the All India Entrance Examination to enter the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, to study DM in the super-specialty of endocrinology.

His vast clinical experience includes working in many academic posts in institutions such as the Department of Medicine at the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER and SSKM) Hospital, Kolkata; the Department of Endocrinology at NRS Medical College, Kolkata; and the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at AIIMS, New Delhi.

He has several publications in national and international journals, including European Endocrinology and Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research and Reviews.

He believes in a rational approach to delivering evidence-based medical treatment with true empathy and care. He gives his patients the opportunity to narrate their problems in their own way, listens to them patiently with care, and, after a clinical assessment, discusses the relevant treatment options with possible consequences in an affectionate way, which makes him truly acceptable to his patients. As most of the endocrine ailments, like diabetes, are lifestyle disorders, he takes time to discuss the diet and exercise plan customized to the individual patient profile and relevant aspects of diabetes education to ensure complete diabetic care for his patients.
